Versailles was opulent and gaudy.

The gardens were amazing. I kept expecting the queen of hearts to jump out from behind a bush and yell, "Off with her head!"

The king's bed chambers are just ridiculously covered in gold. Almost every room is furnished in bright colors with gold, many of them hot pink. They must have loved pink.

The picture of one of the dining rooms is where the king and queen would eat and others would watch, as if it were a sporting event.

Love the sky in this one...

Marie Antoinette missed her Austrian village roots and wanted to pretend she was a peasant but without all the work of course.

Versailles is an all day experience if you want to see even half of it. We ended up catching the train back to Paris through rush hour commuter traffic again and ended up back in the city about 10 to 7.  Just in time for dinner!

Dinner was a little Moroccan place on one of the side streets near the Bastille station where no one spoke English. Good thing we had our menu decoder!  Although I already knew I wanted the Tanjine Chicken and I know the word for chicken!

Moroccan was a new experience for John & Trace but it was one of the best meals we've had!
